Northshore HIIT ClassesAre you looking for exciting new Northshore HIIT classes? You’ve come to the right place! HIIT stands for high intensity interval training, and gained prominence after a study by Izumi Tabata in the mid 1990s. At Hit180Fit, most of our plans and programs are HIIT based because of their effectiveness! Furthermore, HIIT programs are based on individual capability so virtually anybody can participate at their own pace and still get results.

While Tabata’s study was based on Olympic speed skaters, the results indicated that interval training is very effective as a means of improving fitness. At Hit180Fit, we feature a class bearing the name of Mr. Tabata, called Tabata 20/10s. “20/10” refers to the 20 second intervals of intense exercise followed by 10 seconds of rest. Tabata 20/10s combine agility, strength, core, and cardio exercises. Each 20/10 (30 seconds total) is one round; we do eight rounds per set and eight sets of each exercise per session. Each set lasts about just four minutes, but it might be the most difficult four minutes of your life!

Introducting our signature class: HIT180

The HIT180 class from which our company name is derived is our flagship class. In this program, we have four stations: functional/dynamic workouts, upper body strength, lower body strength, and cardio that are alternated daily to avoid getting redundant or repetitive. HIT180 is high intensity like all HIIT programs, but we focus on low impact exercises to dramatically reduce the risk of someone getting injured. Rather than using flat or incline treadmills that stress your joints, we use equipment like versa climbers or rowing machines. This reduces the impact on all your joints as compared to high impact activities like running or jogging. By putting less stress on your joints, low impact exercise greatly reduces injury rate but remains effective. Our clients that stay committed consistently get excellent results. More importantly, though: our clients’ injury rate is considerably lower compared to those in high-impact regimens!
